  • World Events

    The Kyoto Protocol enters into force. Avian influenza rages across Asia. A major earthquake hits Pakistan, killing more than 70,000 people. Relations with China deteriorate due to Prime Minister Koizumi's visit to Yasukuni Shrine, and anti-Japanese demonstrations are held in various parts of China. In Japan, a large number of falsifications regarding the anti-seismic data of condominiums and other buildings are exposed. The Aichi Expo is held in Aichi, Nagoya.
