    Born in Seattle in USA. Took up postgraduate studies at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) researching computer arrangement management and scientific visualization. Completed a PH.D. in design (Department of Art) at Tsukuba University. He was the head researcher of the international Media Research Foundation. From the autumn of 1996 he took up a position as an youngest assistance professor at MIT.
