    Born in 1936 in Tokyo, Keiichi Tanaami graduated from Musashino Art University. He has been a professor at the Kyoto University of Art and Design since 1991. Since the 1960s he has pursued an active career as a graphic designer, a film maker and an artist, successfully transcending the boundaries between the three, to become a trailblazing representation of a modern, versatile artist, who exerts a considerable influence on artists around the world. Recent major exhibitions include “International Pop” (Walker Art Center, Dallas Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, USA; 2015-2016), “The World Goes Pop” (Tate Modern, London; 2015), “Japanorama. A new vision on art since 1970” (Centre Pompidou-Metz, France; 2017), “Hello World. Revising a Collection” (Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart, Berlin, Germany; 2018), “Keiichi Tanaami” (K11 Foundation, Guangzhou, China; 2018), and many more. In recent times, major global art galleries, such as MoMA (USA), Walker Art Center (USA), Art Institute of Chicago (USA), M+ Museum for Visual Culture (Hong Kong), National Portrait Gallery (USA), Hamburger Bahnhof (Germany) house collections of his works.

    Born in Tokyo. After graduating from Musashino Art University, worked for one year at Hakuhodo Inc. Since then, he has engaged in an array of avant-garde and highly playful creative activities in areas including animation ,painting, illustration and editorial design. Along with his graphic design work, he has continuously experimented in the visual realm as well, and his works have been shown at film festivals around the world. Since 1981, he adopted an artistic style of expression in which he borrowed numerous Asian forms such as strange-looking pines, cranes and elephants, which he has fashioned into paintings, films and prints depicting the realms of memories and dreams. His solo exhibitions include Musee-Chateau d'Annecy in France, the Ikeda Museum of 20th Century Art, the Transplant Gallery in New York. His main publications include "BLOW UP," "The Dancing Goldfish," and "spiral." He also has many films and animation DVDs
